Love is in the air or at least in the marketing. Even if Valentine’s Day is a “Hallmark holiday,” it is a terrific time to unveil some creative marketing campaigns and activities that will engage your audience.

Here are a few ideas to make your customers love you:

10 Ways to Make Your Customers Fall in Love with Your Business

  • Create flash specials that are good for a very small window of time. Publicize them on social media or in your newsletter. Customers will feel part of a VIP group.
  • Turn your social media posts into a laugh-a-minute by asking those hilarious (and often embarrassing) dating questions. For instance, “most awkward pick-up line.” If no one answers, have your staff ready to jump in with their versions until someone starts talking.
  • Create a funny video or song parody. Change the words to something that fits your business.
  • Run a Valentine’s Day poll on social media. Ask about spending habits or expected purchases.
  • Showcase your most loyal customers by telling their stories or featuring them on your website, social media, or newsletter.
  • Ask people to show you love through referrals or reviews. Provide them a reason to do it like a discount on their next purchase or service.
  • Ask customers to share their favorite things about your product or service on social media or ask them to tell you about a product or service they wished you sold (instant R&D!).
  • Start a loyalty program or join a local currency program.
  • Repurpose your testimonials on heart-themed backgrounds and post them to social media.
  • Include offers for single people. Make sure when you run specials for Valentine’s Day that they are not all “Buy Two, Get One” or “Buy Something, Save On Your Second Something.” Consider appealing to those celebrating their singleness as well like a “Buy One, Take One.”

People buy from those they know, like, and trust and Valentine’s Day gives you an extra reason to turn on the marketing charm. Have some fun with it. Be creative. Make an impression and get your customers (and potential customers) talking about you.
