Content ideas for shop local and fall

Fall is a wonderful season. For much of the country fall provides a respite from the scorching heat. Fall also begins the community season with harvest festivals, hayrides, pumpkin patches and more leading into the holidays. It’s a time that brings people out to enjoy the last of the nice weather, at least for the next several months. Fall is also the perfect time to bring attention to the amazing things your local community has to offer.

Creating Shop Local Content for Fall

Use fall as a time to show the community off with the following content ideas:

1. Keep people abreast of when local farmer’s markets close. Invite them out for the last several weekends by highlighting some of their offerings.

2. Compile a list of the best fall drives in your area.

3. Write a blog post about the best pumpkin “things” in your area, everything from baked treats, to pumpkin patches, pumpkin facials, to pumpkin-colored fashions.

4. Do a video visit of restaurants/bars in your area that serve special fall brews.

5. Run a fall promotion on chamber bucks.

6. Highlight pick-your-own operations or farms in your area.

7. Compile a numbered list of “Best Fall Activities in _____.”

8. Bring on the football with a post highlighting businesses involved in football such as fan apparel, caterers (for the big game), bars (to watch the game), and more. Use your creativity in compiling your list.

9. Highlight best fall tastes in your area.

10. List the best fall strolls in your community. Don’t forget to mention your downtown shopping district, particularly if it’s decked out for fall.

11. Around Thanksgiving create a post that details all the things you’re thankful for in your town. Include links to businesses and attractions that made the list. Ask people to share their favorites with you. Create a hashtag for easy sharing.

12. If you’re participating in Small Business Saturday, make sure you include plenty of posts leading up to that. Add it to the end of your fall posts and talk about it until you’re sure everyone in town knows about it. Then talk about it some more.
