local currency and spring

Spring is officially here. (Even if there’s still snow on the ground.)

The temperatures are warming up (one of these days), and your town is likely about to see a boom in tourism and travelers.

Is your business ready, or are there still a few spring cleaning items you need to take care of?

Get Your Business in Shape for Spring

Here are tips to help you clean up your business routine and prepare for the upcoming busy spring and summer season:

What’s Going On?

Dust off your planner, and make note of important upcoming events. As a small business, knowing everything that is going on in your town is important. You should be at every event, getting your name and business out there. From fairs, community festivals, fundraisers, and school events – if other businesses are attending you should be there as well.

Where Are You?

Refresh your New Year goals. Spring is the perfect time to revisit any goals you made in January and see if they need to be updated or changed. If you are on track and meeting your goals, then continue the good work. If perhaps you created goals that just aren’t attainable right now, it is okay to change them and come up with a new strategy for your business.

Shine Bright

Add a new shine to your marketing materials. Pull out any materials from last year, and think about what you might be able to do differently this year. This is a great way to get your employees involved as well; ask them to come up with new marketing ideas for getting customers in the door and promotional items to use when attending events.

Try a new marketing approach. Check with your local chamber to see if they’re part of a local currency program. Becoming part of that program can bring you additional customers.

Cast Off the Old

Sweep away any negativity. It is important to focus on what is going well, and continue to do that. By setting realistic goals for your business, taking every opportunity to advertise and build a customer base, and by keeping a positive attitude, people will want to work with you and your positivity will be contagious. Don’t let your own negativity get in the way of your business.

Set aside time in the next few weeks to rejuvenate your approach and come up with fresh ideas for your business. You may just find that cleaning up your business routine will help you come up with new ideas and stay motivated to make this a winning season for your small business and community.
