The Grand Haven Chamber, located in Grand Haven, Mich., is going digital with their community currency program, Dune Dollars. Dune Dollars is managed by the Grand Haven Chamber and is now powered by Conpoto.
For more than 40 years, Dune Dollars has been a paper-based gift certificate program. In August 2014 the Chamber decided to partner with Conpoto and launch their local currency platform. Dune Dollars can now be purchased directly from the Grand Haven Chamber website.
Joy Gaasch, President of the Grand Haven Chamber believes the convenience of the Conpoto technology will increase Dune Dollars sales by 15%. “Our large employers are looking for unique and convenient ways to recognize and reward their employees,” said Gaasch. “The ease of the buying Dune Dollars from our website will be embraced by our community.”
Gaasch, is also excited about the efficiency benefits of having a web-based system. “Our community will now have the ability to purchase Dune Dollars anytime from our website. They no longer have to wait until we’re open.” In addition, transitioning to a digital service will bring convenience to the community. “The demand for Dune Dollars is very intense during the holidays. We are swamped with walk-ins and phone calls. So it takes a lot of time for the staff to put the orders together,” said Gaasch. “But a web-based system can handle the extra volume of work that we have during the holidays.”
The transition from paper-based to digital gift certificates has been easy, Gaasch says. “Conpoto has been amazing in helping us address all the issues that we might have,” said Gaasch. “This really is a step we’re taking to eventually not have to provide hard copy certificates.”
